All Time Favorite Lures

Featured Replies

Just curious what is everyones favorite lures and why.

For me it is the good ole 1/2oz Rat-L-Trap. Seems to produce for me when nothing else will.

The old Bass Pro Shops Rc 1.5 Square Bill Crankbait cause it always produces fish

A 5/16 oz black & blue jig with a zoom ultra vibe craw trailer in black sapphire color. I love the feeling of slow dragging a jig across the bottom and feeling the bottom through my rod.It can be a painfully slow process but it has caught me a lot of bass.

1/2 oz booyah buzzbait.....Simple answer as to why is because it attracts big bass and that is what I'm after! And there's nothing more exciting than a big top water blowup.

1/2oz brush jig in Texas Craw. If they'd eat that bait well every day I was on the water I wouldn't fish much else.

RI beaver or a Black and Blue Jig in my home lakes

But my all time fav is a LC slender pointer in ghost minnow

A 1/3 oz. Cordell Big-O.  That is the lure I used when I started bass fishing many moons ago, and it still works today.

I have a kvd 1.5 square bill in Black Back/Chart that has now caught 76 fish. Has been through 4 sets of trebble hooks and refuses to break. I have 6 others in the exact same color and none can catch them like this one.

In the spring, I like the smithwick rattlin' rouge in clown.

My Favorite Lure has change several times over the years.

As I learned a new technique, I can and do routinely fall in love with it; especially if it catches.

It's gone from a Daredevil spoon to a Rebel minnow.  Next it was a Fred Arbogast Mud Bug and then a Heddon Hellbender.

Then the Hula Popper & the Jitterbug was the deal. Once plastic started to come around I was a Creme and Jelly worm. abuser.  Next I think it was spinnerbaits - that one lasted a while.

Now, I'd say my favorite lure to get a strike on is a Duo Realis Pencil, it's a walking bait.  Rarely are they the biggest bass (except in Mexico) but the strike is so much fun.  The thump you get on a jig strike is tough to beat as the quality of the bass is usually better.

Of course all of this is sponsored by your friendly neighborhood Bait Monkey.

Currently my all time favorite lure is a Finesse Worm.  Any green pumpkin-ish color.  Prefer it on a Mojo Rig but it works well on a drop shot, a shakey head, split shot.   You name it.  Just flat out works for me.

My favorite bait is a Rapala DT 6 in Demon color..... I think crank baits are way more versatile than people think and use them for.  If I could only use one bait it would be this, it would be tough sometimes yes, but it is so versatile

Culprit Ribbon Tail

Zara Spook

I still throw all these, except the worms are a newer plastic now.

If you are abducted in the middle of the night by Special Forces (in civilian attire) and flown to GITMO, never to be heard of again, ask yourself, was it worth it?... :)
