Pb For The Pros

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a site or anything that tells what the pros have as their PB? I wonder what the biggest LMB is they have caught. Bill Dance mentioned on one of his shows that his was a little over 14lbs.

Good question about the site.

I have always wondered how many pros have yet to cross the double digit mark. I know Scott Martins PB is over 13 saw a video of him pulling one close to 14 out of a mat. Deans another angler that I know has pulled in a few double digit bass with his bass single day record he set with 45+ I believe it was he had two 10+ that day a 9,8,7 pretty cool

I also wonder if the pros are "pros" for the reason that they catch huge DD bass?  Or the fact that they catch so many average ones?

Iaconelli's pb is a 14-1 out of Amistad.

Jimmy Houston's is 13-1.

The pro's are pro's because they can locate and then catch bass far better than the average fisherman. Sure catching big bass can be part of it, but it's more of a consistency thing. They are better at making decisions under pressure than most and they are marketable. That last one is bigger than most people realize because very few people have the funds to pay their own way in the Elite Series.

I agree that they can locate better and have more of the experience than most. I wonder what KVD has pulled out of the water before as his PB?

Classical conditioning has kicked in on this thread for me. I just saw the letters "PB" on my thread title and I found myself going into my kitchen to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. :-/

A guy I know fishes the FLW tour and he said it costs him about 80-90k a year to fish the tour.

I believe KVD PB is 11 lbs 13 oz caught at Lewisville Texas, during a tournament.

I'd be willing to bet FishChris has caught more larger bass than touring pros do, he specifically targets them and a pro does not.  A pros goal is to catch as many fish as they can and weigh the 5 best.  Can a professional catch super large bass, sure if they targeted them they would.

There was a Bassmaster Classic preview article several years ago that listed various career highlights of the top 100 ranked pros. I forget the actual count, but I was shocked at the number of pros who did not have a DD - it was the overwhelming majority. Of course, this may have & probably did change since then.

I am sure B.A.S.S. And FLW would publish a list of PB for each touring pro if anglers requested a list.

There may not be that much interest in a PB list based on the fact it has never been published or maintained.

While I agree a Pro can catch big bass, they don't focus on catching big bass unless they needed to win a tournament.

Pro bass anglers are no different than weekend bass anglers when recreational bass fishing for fun, everyone wants to catch a big bass and they are not easy to catch.
