Caught this guy this afternoon. 3 pounder but felt like a lot more. It was even a fight to unhook him.

I want to target some of these one day. Looks like the ultimate in topwater fishing

They are staring to click in my area now, caught some yesterday.  I've been trying to avoid that long ride to Miami.  The most prolific peacock lure I have ever used (all the peacock guys use them here) is plain old crappie jig.  What makes the crappie jig so good is the number of ways it can be fished.  The small profile allows it to come thru weeds, it can be swimmed, hard or soft jigged and with the rod held high it can fished similar to a fly on top of the water.  You will catch not only peacocks but bass, mayans, oscars and bluegill.  the real beauty is they cost only .20 a piece.  Once again simplicity can be a great weapon.  I've caught them on about every imaginable lure, for me it's only going to be a crappie jig or an inline spinner.

Thanks for the advice. I've been using live bait until some jigs and plastics come in the mail. Man what a fight. I had some good jumpers. You don't have to go all the way to miami I've seen them a lot in pines. Mostly medium but by the park near pines are a lot.

Man, Id like to catch one of those beautiful Florida bass. Awesome job man.
