first trip of 2019. in spite of losing 2 nice bass, I managed to catch a few. biggest one I got in the boat was 3 pounds. Caught it on a jig.

white bass would not leave the crankbait alone.

Catching a few in between crappie trips. Will get a bit more serious with them once winter is over. Things look like we'll freeze up around here mid to late next week. But, it's already January, so it won't be a long wait B)

Last week was seasonable (cold), and everything but the power plants froze over. Then then the previous few days were springlike and everything thawed out again. Took 30 minutes after work to test a little jerkbait my buddy painted up and managed to catch a couple. Recent rain had the water stained and the bait was floating a little faster than I'd liked in the cold water or I might have managed a couple more.

A heavy dusting of snow today, and highs only in the 20s. We'll be freezing up everything as soon as the wind stops blowing and we get a calm night. But, snuck out yesterday before everything went to hell and managed to stretch the string a few last times :)

Long range puts us back above normal so maybe this will be a redux of Dec. Posted about yesterday in Hoosier thread because I couldn't take a decent pic for here.  Still shaking my head at the action I experienced just before frontal passage.

Weird day on the water Thursday at the power plant lake. Discharge was 47 degrees, ramp was 49 degrees, dam was 47 degrees, flats north of the discharge was 52 degrees? The stack was smoking so they were generating, not sure what the deal was but as expected in that situation, the fish were shut down. We worked hard and got some to bite though. I had a shiny new Yo-Zuri 3DR Vibe I was trying out from the TW sale and that was the flavor of the day. It matched the baitfish they were schooling on perfectly, caught big fish of the day with a nice 4.74lb fish that popped it on the fall after I ripped it off the bottom (how almost all my fish bit that day), and went from new to scratched up by the end of the day and it was hard earned.

Went out for crappie and caught largemouth and catfish. Creeks were thick with shad everywhere so we netted some and used them under bobbers around Marinas. Seagulls were gorging themselves. Find the bait doesnt make the fishing so easy when the bait is everywhere and super thick. I also scanned under a bridge a few times and got some cool screen shots

What's better to do the day after a big snow than go fishing. Just a few fun size but better than sitting around. Guides icing up was the biggest hassle.

@The Bassman, that is awesome! I love snow

I don't particularly, but it beats watching football when your team lost last night.

Early yesterday morning, we pulled the kayaks off the beds of our trucks and hit the Ogeechee river where the fresh meets the salt in search of striped bass.  It was my first time fishing a tidal river, and it was an awesome experience.

I managed five hard-fighting river bass in the area of 14-17" long, fat little fellows.  Healthy fish.  I'll definitely be fishing the area again.
