I caught another skinny fish yesterday at noon. This one measured an honest 22 inches, but only weighed 5 pounds 1 ounce. It went to the bottom and had me all wrapped up in pads for a couple of minutes. I thought I was going to have to cut the braid at one point, or go in and get it.

Really like throwing jerkbaits in the wind.

But once it got 25 +, I had to call it.

Not before introducing myself to a couple of the locals.

Not a giant, but I always get super stoked to catch a quality bass. Right around the 3 lb mark. Had a nice fat belly. Caught on nightcrawler threaded on a #6 brim hook, 4 lb line and light action rod. Ran up under the dock and actually got snagged on a post, but instead of jerking the rod, I flipped the bail over to let out some slack I'm hoped it would swim itself out, and it did.

Topwater tonight. Caught a dozen or so, some hanging out in a foot or two of water. All on a Gunfish 115 that I got from @Bluebasser86 about 8 years back in a trade.

Glimpse of some wildlife on the way back:

Got out thurs. Thinking the cloudy/windy conditions would be perfect for where I went. Threw the kitchen sink for 5 hrs. Could only get 4 on a buzzbait with the best at 3-4.

The grass is finally coming in nicely. Balls of shad roaming everywhere and bass feeding. Underspins were great. Use to hate fishing grass now I feel confident in it. Can't wait to throw a lipless and chatterbait around. Have a safe memorial day weekend.

First is the bass I caught Thursday, other is one earlier in the year. Roughly the same length but one is fatter and has a rounder shape. I'm guessing one is Male and the other is female?

This girl looks like she's late to the party. I'd expect this a few weeks ago but it's late May and not yet spawned out. At least I presume she's full of eggs and not shad at this point in time.

Really feeling the effects of the 10+ inches of rain we've had the last week here. Still managed to get on a couple good ones, along with several smaller ones, flipping a homemade jig and pitching a Rage bug into flooded grass. One of the first grass bites was a pretty wild ride on a short line.

Walking the banks for a bit in the AM, and caught 6 including a quick release. None were much bigger or smaller than this last one.

After working today and then hanging out with my brother, nephew and my mom for a bit before she heads home to Fla. In a couple days I decided I could squeeze in a quick bonus trip from 430 til 7. Only got 3 all on a spinnerbait with 1 good one that weighed 4 lbs. Even.

April & May 2019 have been decent; especially for plus sized brown bass.

We finally got a chance to get the G3 out on a different lake this morning. Things didn’t go quite as planned. The bass didn’t cooperate neither did the weather. We only got about 3 hours in and around 8:30 the wind picked up. By 9 we had enough of getting blown around. I got a dink on a spinnerbait and 6poundbass got one while we were waiting for the launch to free up.

Couple pound jig fish

spacer.png

I still can't believe that 1, he fit that frog into his mouth and 2 that i was able to get a good enough hookset to land him.

Here is the best fish of the day.  A shade under 22" and weighed in at 5lbs 9oz

I imagine is full on spawn mode she would weigh a few pounds more.  Had a fun day which included 10+ miles of paddling....
