Snapped Rod!

Featured Replies

Today i was fishing with tungsten bullet weights and when i was pulling my lure out of a brush pile the weight came flying back and ticked the rod in the side. I attempted to cast and bam it snapped, just above the reel :(

That stinks.  What kind of rod was it?  Warranty?

Shimano Cumara, getting replaced with warranty :)

Shimano Cumara, getting replaced with warranty :)

do you like the cumara? I was looking into getting one

New red one or previous gen?

Are they replacing it for free?  I ask because I suppose that wouldn't be a defective rod.  A couple of weeks ago my dx snapped casting and dobyns replaced it at no cost (except I payed to ship it to them).  Great service.  But if it broke like yours did I suspect I would have to pay $80.

It soooo good you gotta get it. It goes great with the shimano Stradic ci4 reel. The rod is so light and great action and backbone. This only broken cause my weight hit it. I'll get a new one for free though

That stinks, but it wasnt due to a defect in the rod so it shouldn't be a warranty claim. Oh well, you're rod so its you're choice.

Shimano asks no questions. Watch your tungsten in the future eh?

I had a jig do the same thing to a Cielo on a short line, shallow water fish. Nailed the rod and broke about foot clean off. I was honest with Daiwa and only paid shipping for a replacement.
