Next Van Dam .....jacob Wheeler?

Featured Replies

Alright guys, Jacob Wheeler fishes with us guys here in central indiana quite a bit out at Geist Reservoir....whenever he is home from the tour he is out there...and if you want to see a guy locate and catch fish like crazy, this kid is something else....everyone here knows how good he is and now everyone nationally is getting to know him.....He has won the Forrest Wood Cup, finished 2nd this year in the cup, just won the FLW event at Chickamauga a few weeks ago and now.....won the Ultimate Match Fishing title for this year.....unreal.....if you can locate and catch the bags of fish he does here in central indiana, you know he is good. Will he continue his way to the top? Don't know but all we do know is, if he is not on tour, he will be on a local lake here in central Indiana slayin em'. Sure is fun to watch. By the way, he's only 23.

I've heard of him and he seems pretty darn good. I sure hope he continues his way up because the world needs more bass fisherman like him to learn from. It's just unreal how he finds them and jumps right on them. Great fisherman and he will be around for a while.

Met him at the Chickamauga event, super nice fella even more so than KVD. Glad to see young guys so excited about the sport

Watched him this weekend on bassmasters. He is legit.

This has nothing to do with fishing or your post. Just thought I'd say "boomer sooner" to a fellow Oklahoma fan.

He is good but I have read on other sites that he is rubbing some people the wrong way.  I like it.  You have to have an edge if you are going to be the best.  Plus he is in a Ranger Boat and I love it when a Ranger guy wins in the BASS.  Thats what he won on Chickamaga not FLW.  BASSfest.

I first learned about him after he won the BASS Junior Championship.  He's been moving up the ranks since.  He's on the verge of qualifying to fish the Elites, which I hope he accepts.  It will be fun to watch him in the coming years.

Jacob Wheeler is a beast of a fisherman.  But you can't compare the two.  It's like comparing Labron James to Micheal Jordan.  You can't.  Both are great players.  KVD and Jacob Wheeler are both great fisherman, and time will tell but he is def one to watch and has the abilities and confidence to be as good as he wants to be, but seems to be a very humble and nice kid.  KVD has been doing this a lot, so as good as he is, sorry he's fished a long time and like all of us, I'm sure common sense and respect go a long way with him.  If you don't show him the respect he deserves he probably wouldn't show it back.

Wheeler does appear to be a top notch fisherman, but when I watch him I can't help but pull against him. Just something about his attitude and demeanor lend me to believe his early success has gone to his head. Or that may just be the way he is and may be the reason he is as successful as he is.

He will definitely be in the Elite series next year, if not then no latter then 2 years from now

Lets not forget what KVD has done the numbers 7 and 4 are all that need to be said
