Dx702 Vs Dx703

Featured Replies

I need a new drop shot rod for docks. Which one is better? I will be primarily using 3/16-3/8oz weights with mostly 1/4oz. I have a ML rod for open water, and need one for docks and light cover. I dont want it to be too soft, and i heard the DX702 has almost too soft of a tip for drop shots. Which one would you guys recommend?

702dx tooo soft for drop shot? Not at all... BUT it is an open water drop shot rod. I have used it around docks and been okay, but it's definitely on the light end for anything other than open water. I use my 702dx in 10-40ft of open water. Since you seem to have an open water drop shot rod that you like, I would go 703.

At those weights I'd probably look at the 703sf. The 742sf is a nice rod in between the the 702 and the 703. As mentioned, the 702 is more of an open water rod.
