Cody, fished Buggs two weeks ago and it was tough.

First and second place used a Carolina rig to catch their fish.

The secret of Buggs is to watch the water level.

300 is Normal Pool

Water is off the bank and the trees and bushes are either in shallow water or out of the water.

You will have to move the boat back about 100 or more feet off the bank and throw white spinnerbaits and Carolina rigs.

A shad colored crankbait may produce some action but don't count on a strike after each  cast.

Plastics may work but concentrate on the Carolina rig and spinnerbaits.

Over 300 - Bushes in the Water

This is what you want. Bushes in the water.

Back of Eastland Creek and along its bank has some outstanding bushes in the water when the water level is 303,304 and higher.

Hit the back of Eastland Creek and fish out to the main river flipping and pitching your shaky heads, Senkos and brush hogs.

Spinnerbaits can work, too.

And don't forget that Carolina rig!

Big Lake

Try to go to Eastland and then to an area you have plotted to fish.

Hit all the wood you can find and especially, as mentioned above, the trees and bushes if they are in the water.

If he wind picks up you can have white caps so plan your return to the weigh-in accordingly.

If the water level is around 300 back off the shore at least 100 feet and use the Carolina rig.

Here are some web sites below you need to check out and read what they say.

The baitfish were not in the backs of the creeks two weeks ago nor did we see any balls of shad.

This could change. There is a powerful storm over Buggs now and it will increase the water level.

It is up to the Corps of Engineers to keep the water level where they want it and they have been keeping it at 300.

You will need a GMCO map of the lake plus setting up your maps on your sonar unit to track where you go and how you get back to the ramp.

No kidding. Buggs is that big and you can get confused and lost in an instant.

Check out GMCO maps or get a map at BPS or Green Top and study it.
