    Lake Cahoon in Suffolk is the best IMO, also Burnt Mills  would be really good

    Work in the Suffolk area but don't live there.  Have heard nothing but great things about the various Suffolk lakes for freshwater fishing.  Don't know about crappie fishing, but do know that the lakes are apparently loaded with bass from striper to largemouth.  If you are new to Virginia I would definitely recommend taking a trip to Buggs Island if you are seeking out crappie fishing.
