Phenix M1 Spinning Rod

Featured Replies

Anyone have personal experience with the 7'2" medium? Was looking into getting this to pair with a stradic ci4 for walleye jigging in the spring on Erie. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I paired mine with a revo s20 and use it for tubes, 4" senkos, and 1/8-3/8 ounce dropshot rigs. Should be fine for walleye jigs up to 1/2 ounce. I use it with 6 lb mono. It's rated to 3/4 ounce but seems to max out with a 1/2 ounce dropshot rig or shakeyhead. Seems fine on the lower end of the rating (1/8 oz). It's a little tip heavy, but is lightweight, looks great and I like the reel seat and handle, locking nut is behind the reel where it should be. Sensitivity is on par for the price. Should be a sweet combo paired with a ci4. Not exactly sure what kind of feedback you're looking for, but these are some of my thoughts on this rod. Good luck.

Funny you should ask, but I just picked one up and had it's maiden voyage last week. I used it as a mojo rigger, down to 50 ft or so. I must say, I was more than happy and surprised. I was using a Powell 703, a good rod but it seemed to be insensitive for my stone like hands. My first few casts indicated that I was feeling a lot of new stuff on the bottom that I missed before. Then I felt something really weird, and I honestly said to myself, "what was that?" Turned out to be a two lb spot. The rest of the morning I was tickled by the new sensitivity, and 15 bass were tickeled by my Gamakatsu. More than pleased! BTW, I ran fifteen lb braid, long 8lb fluoro leader and 3/16 lead mojo.

It is an awesome rod.. You'll love it. I have one it's sweet.

I've had one for two years now, absolutely love mine. Have it paired with a Patriarch with 15 Power Pro. I've caught most of my bigger fish with this rod probably because it's a such a joy to fish with and I can't put it down. Had a small issue with reel seat the first year, they sent me a new rod, great people to deal with.  Good Luck with yours.

Thanks for the replies. Really leaning towards it. How does the guide size compare to other rods? I use an Okuma Citrix and like the size of their guides.
