Braid's Tag End

Featured Replies

Does anyone else tie a little knot on the tag end of braid knots to prevent the "fraying" from getting down to the knot? Ive seen people use lighters, and others ignore it, but i seem to be alone on this. Never seen it cause any problems. If anything, it gives a little extra security, i doubt it could pull through

I seem to retie before it really starts to fray so it is not really an issue

I use a Bic on the rare occasion I use braid..

Quite often I do singe the tag end.  A knot tip I got for Henry Wasczuk from his tv show was to make a second wrap when using braid with an improved clinch to prevent pull thru.  He was right !!

Braid tying to a swivel just might be more common than line to leader in saltwater, the knot works well for that application.

If anything, I fray it on leader connections as a sort of strike indicator. Other wise, no knot.

Nope. Never done that. I use a lighter with big baits. Jigs, flippin rigs, swimbaits, etc.

My tag end has never been an issue. I don't have much of a tag end anyways. If your knot is solid the tag end could be clipped pretty short.
