Lake Wisconsin

Featured Replies

Our Wisconsin highschool state bass torunamnet this year will be held June 7, 2015 on Lake Wisconsin.  I was wondering if anybody has fished this or knows of people who have and any informantion I might want to know.  I also have a veiw questions; will the bass be in post spawn?  Where to fish? and other general facts/information.

I am doing extencive research on teh lake via maps but I would like to talk to some people to gain more knowledge about the lake so I will be prepared when we go and prefish it.

I've never fished there, but guessing by current weather, I would say plan on post spawn.

I fish there quite a bit for walleye and crappie and catch a good amount of smallies on accident. June 7th will probably be post spawn. Smoke grey baits will match the forage. I tend to catch most of them on 4" Gulp minnows and a jig head, since I'm walleye fishing. I do most of my fishing south of the railroad bridge but have caught them on the north end by the river entrance on crankbaits. Find areas where the water drops off quick from shore and fish on top of the sharp drops dragging your bait over the drop. The current is going to play a big role in where/how you fish. If the current is fast, I will almost guarantee if you find one bass, you're limit will be in the same area. If you do fish north of the railroad bridge, much of the water is shallow and stump filled so be careful motoring around. Here is a gage chart for the river height and current coming thru the Wisconsin Dells power station which is just north of there. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=05404000 and check out lake-linkDOTcom for reports

Thank you this helped a lot.  With there being a Cabala's Bass Tournament the day before I believe that if we can catch a limit we will be competitive
