Hi, Just recently moved to Denver from Northern VA this Fall.

 

Now that ski season is over, anyone have any local recommendations "near" the Denver metro area to do some springtime fishing?

 

Trying to find a few spots that I can just go out for a little while after work or on weekends just to cast around and get some action. I'm near Sloans lake, but I assumed there are actually no fish there?

    Never fished those "inner city" lakes. Guess the important question is...do you have a boat or watercraft of some sort? Denver area, I was always fond of Quincy, wasn't as crowded as some of those other reservoirs in the area.

    Quincy and Aurora are good for largemouth, but both are electric motor only. Actually it's a nice thing because it keeps the pleasure boaters away. Quincy and Aurora both have smallmouth as well, with Aurora having some pigs up to 5 pounds. Quincy may be a little better for largemouth than Aurora but both produce some nice fish.

    you could try pueblo resevoir but its about an hour and a half south past colorado springs.

    I heard McKay Lake was overfished and the bass are depleted.... did I hear wrong?
