Melting Plastisol

Recommended Posts

Any soft plastic makers out there?  I just got started pouring my own  and I see that a lot of people use Lee Pots to melt their plastic.  This may be a dumb question, but is that the same model people use to melt lead??

Right now I'm using the ol' Pyrex cup and the microwave, but the plastic doesn't stay melted long enough to pour a lot of baits at once.  It's a huge PIA.

I use hot plates, Lee's pot and a presto pot. The Lee's pots for plastic and lead are different. the lead pot will scorch plastic in no time. For small amounts you can use the micro or hot plates. I have three single burner hot plates set up so I can do either three colors at the same time or run concurrent batches one after the other. The Lee's pot will give you more time and the amount of plastic you can use will be greater also. The Presto pots are a larger production type deal. They may be a little large for you if you don't want to pour 20oz at a time. Hope that helps.

Do you have Broggis info to mYbe purchase a melter mb

Unfortunately this thread is 10 years old and not one person in the previous thread is still active my friend. I to wish I would have came across this thread sooner to buy a melting pot as well.
