Lure fusion?

Featured Replies

I dropped a line by lunkerville today! I saw someone tacking two soft baits cutting parts off and and putting them on other baits by melting the bait together.

For example, if I wanted to take the end of ribbon tail worm and the top of a french fry, than I would light a candle and melt the end of the french fry where i cut, and than melt the end of the ribbon tail, than put the two melted parts together making one new lure!

Anyways, have any of you tried it, and if you have, have you got some tips or good baits to fuse?

So far I have done:

A zoom tube + zoom U tail worm.

Gambler bacon rind + yum woolly bugger

Yum woolly bugger + Gambler bacon rind

I just did it today some I have yet to use them.

How ever, I don't think I'll be making for a little while due to a clam opening incident, stabbed my self in the thumb all the way down to the done! :D

I managed to make some even with my thumb!

Zoom U tail + bacon rind

yum CrawBug + mr.twister

bacon rind + spinner bait trailer

I also cut a senko know off in half and put back together to give it a broken back look.

Thanks for the info, I have been wondering about doing something similar, just never really attempted to do so. I will be going through my palstics an giveing it a try, An if I mess anything up, well there goes another addition to the x-mas list :D

by the way what episode was it.

thanks,

You can make some really cool stuff doing this. I have been doing this for years. It is cool to get a bunch of old unused soft plastics and see what you can make up. I like really big worms so a lot of time I will put together a worm and another worm to make like a 15" worm.

Yes, this is a good way to get some new ideas. The pros were doing it at Amistad and Falcon last year and the year before. I use a candle if I'm doing a few at a time. That way you can hold the two pieces without having to hold a lighter.

The hybrid lure making, is a little more than half way through the episode.

Your welcome,

one of these will make it easier-http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0051314314025a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCHFEAT_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=welder&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1

or do what i do and heat up a paper clip and run it through the two pieces you want bonded and it will  melt them together- this works really good for repairing tears in soft swimbaits to

the best way to go is to go to walmart or michaels and pick up a wood burning tool for under 10 bucks. its a lot better and will last a lot longer than that plastics welder (the wire tip on those burn out).

then you can use that to melt your plastics and if you ever feel like it, you can make some awesome looking artwork.

I just made:

Tube-power wirm

powerworm-trickworm(9" worm)

trick worm and a 3.5 inch worm with a small twisy tail on the end.

WOW this is fun! ;D

I feel like Sid from Toy Story!

I do it all the time, then if its a hit, you can mold it so you can pour it again! (well with some baits) it is alot of fun

Been using an old wormizer (with the wire head) ever since it first came out!!!  Haven't burned out the head yet and still works great
