Kvd 1.5 Or 2.5

Featured Replies

From what I understand you want to fish the 1.5 early in the year and the 2.5 latter in the summer. Yes or no?

I think the thought process on that is shad or bait fish have gotten larger in late summer fall time.

But they both should work year round.

1.5 or 2.5 has about 50 different angles you can approach from. 2.5 has a more dramatic wobble, therefore better in the later months as the bait fish are more active. 1.5 runs tighter and less dramatic similar to bait fish in cold water. Also, 1.5 is smaller in size which is more appealing to a bass that is not looking to eat a whole lot when the water is cold.

I love the 2.5 in yellow perch.. awesome

I'm must be I guess you could say a 1.5 fanboy but it seems to me that I catch like a 5:1 ratio with a 1.5 all year...

Big and little fish. It could be one of those trial and error things, and just throw witch ever one they are hitting at that particular moment. The fish could want two totally different presentations @ two different spots on the lake

The 2.5 is a wider wobble and a bigger frame, fir me that is the BIG difference. If you just need bites in I would use the 1.5 it is smaller and is less likely to get caught on structure. Plus fish will go after it since it's not as big. But latter in the year, or if you are looking for a bigger bite then use the 2.5. I think both can be used anytime. It just depends on the situation

The baitfish are actually bigger first thing in the spring than they will be a little later in spring after all the fish have spawned. Then they're larger late in the fall again. I don't have a set rule that I follow selecting squarebill size though.

I seem to have the best luck on a 1.5 all year. usually use the neon bluegill pattern.

Never seen a difference in getting bites between the two year round. I just use the 2.5 because I usually catch bigger fish with it.

More fish on the 1.5 for me but bigger bait sometimes pulls bigger fish

Throw both, see what the fish want.

I normally don't throw square bills until after the spawn and when I do, I like a bigger bait. I don't own any 2.5's, but I'm thinking maybe I should add a couple after all the good things I've been reading about them and the 1.5

The 2.5 is best later in the year and in really dirty water.

I have been killing them on the 2.5 the past couple of weeks, I dont own any 1.5's. I need a couple more though, half my bill broke off on my favorite one the other day, not really sure how.

There both great baits
