Guys,

 

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice on switching to smaller baits and smaller line. I've been getting about 5 or 6 bass in a 2-3 hour period fishing mornings and evenings. The ticket was the lighter gear. I really like using heavy line, heavy weight, and big baits. It took not catching fish for a couple of outings to switch to a more simple finesse setup. Been having a blast moving a 4" senko in and around weeds and lily pads and having bass crush it.

If your not already using it,switch to fluorocarbon.Its invisible and more sensitive.Won't stretch.It's amazing for finese fishing.

I was using flouro for a while, and when I broke off my leader, I just tied direct to my 8lb smoke colored fireline and still was catching them. Do you use a heavier flouro leader than your mainline? I only have 10, 12 , 15 lb seaguar leader material. I usually just tie on 10lb flouro.

Glad to help. I use 8lb diameter PP braid, with a 6lb mono leader on my drop shot setup. I tried flouro but it twists wayyyy to much for me, since the switch I haven't had a single issue with line twist.

Only if the main line is braid.  I will only use FC as a leader.  The stuff is nasty to cast!  I know, my experience, my opinion, for what its worth.

Just use straight FC Sniper 7# or 8# spooled properly on a spinning reel and be done with it. Spend your time fishing.

I try to use close to the same diameter lines, it makes tying the two together much easier then using two different diameter lines.
