Boat Or Kayak

Featured Replies

I'm wantin either a kayak or mini bass boat, one of those two man plastic boats, for fishing. I fish ponds all the Rhine but I want something I may can put in the lake too. I also need it in the 200$ range. What do y'all suggest I need

I think you need to reconsider you budget, even if you're looking at used.  I guess grab the first thing you see that's $200 and works - it will sell fast.  I personally prefer a kayak, but if can only do one boat, and want to fish with others, a two seat prowler will work better.

3/4 of the year in SC: Kayak for me

Now that winter's approaching: Boat

Go with a kayak.

What about those inflatable fishing rafts

I've had both. I'd go with the kayak. Much easier to pack around, don't have to worry about carrying a battery and trolling motor and you don't have to worry about charging/replacing a battery once in awhile. Your range isn't much different with either and fishability is about the same. Bad thing will be $200 is probably going to go further towards a used 2 man versus a used kayak.

I could fish out of a really nice bass boat if I so desired. But for me, I prefer a kayak....

Go to menards and get a viper kayak. My buddy got one on sale for 125 and it's wide and roomy for a sit in kayak. I think regularly they are 200.

I have two 12' Hobie Pro Anglers which are pedal and 2 Wilderness kayaks (Commander 120 & Tarpon 100) which are paddles. They all have there place, but I enjoy the Pro Angler the best. Like mentioned above depends on fishing you want to do, how you plan to transport, etc. Best advice is go do demos before buying (I did) and it's the best thing to do. Some kayaks you get in don't track right no matter how hard you try and others I felt wanted to flip me they felt so unstable to me. I'm very comfortable with the ones I have because of demos and I have been in rough water with them. You get what you pay for also!! Good luck!!
