Been out a few times the past couple of weeks with the slightly warmer temps and sun.

Still not doing any good in my waters, mainly neighborhood ponds. I've switched back and forth between NedRigs and loud baits (muddy water) and still nothing takes.

Ready for some warmer water and some pre-spawn activity. Any ideas to get things moving for my current water conditions?

Just saw your post. Looks like we're transitioning from winter tactics to spring.  I'm starting to get them on chatterbaits and paddletail swimmers. Ned always works but I'm kind of ready for different methods after doing the finesse thing all winter. Have caught over 200 bass since early Dec. up to 5 lb. (most under 2). Best of luck.

The bite is strong in southern IN. I caught smallmouth, spotted, and largemouth in one day on SK bitsy flips last weekend. A warm winter and early spring had the bass biting in late March. Glad the season is here!

Last weekend was a downer. I fished Hardy Lake, and I could see countless numbers of bass in shallow water, but they had lockjaw. Is the spawn in full swing?

It should be close, but not quite yet. Unsure of when the full moon was or is, but it seems to be around that time in April when they start thinking about spawning

Hi Folks,

Any luck in northern Indiana yet? I've got nothing to report.

I was out Saturday on a small lake in northern Indiana. It was kinda tough but managed a few smaller ones. Bladebaits and Ned rigs mostly. Water temp was 51-52.

51-52 huh?  That’s actually warmer than I thought it would be.

Id say our water down here is pushing 58-60. Havent been out on the boat yet to confirm. Went Friday for 3 hrs on the bank and managed a few bites. Was dead set on throwing the jig in a pond I never have good luck with a jig. But my new tatula rod and tatula sv performed amazing and it will be a fish catching machine. Poehlein Big Bass Tourney is May 5th, hoping to win and put one on the scale over 7lbs 2 oz

I caught two bass on a whopper plopper last weekend. I tried a jig for a while with no success, then I tried the WP for the first time. I was surprised at how warm the water was.

I've enjoyed the best of the pre spawn bite this past week. Many bass up to 4 lb. My late winter posts wishing for moving bait action have definitely come into play. Nothing like a 4 lb.'r crushing a bait at rod's length.  Sort of my poor man's "musky strike". Nesting's certainly close. It'll give me a reason to stop playing hookey from work and get some jobs done.
