Maybe I should target carp instead of bass. Anyone want some carp nuggets?

Did you catch that Carp on a Fluke?!?

I’ll eat about anything but the meat inside those fish is RED! I mean really red, although I was afraid to try it so I don’t know for sure

The weather changed for the better and I didn't want to be stuck inside so I meandered over to the local trout stream. With all the rain we got there are so few calm pools to fish but I found 2 nice brookies to take the Thomas spinners.

Was the water muddied up from all the rain? I’ve had some good luck in the rain with a spinner but after the rain In muddy water can get a little tough

Slightly turbid. The local Trout Unlimited's work shoring up the banks with large boulders and planting trees to keep erosion at bay means mostly clear water year round. They do great work. Real problem is the leafs. Everywhere the water slowed or made an eddy tons of leafs piled up and I couldn't get my spinner through without snagging a couple. All in all I was happy to catch the 2 I did enjoy reliving some of my youth.

Spent the last 3 days chasing steelhead with the fly rod.  Nothing of great size but great numbers,  the shoulder and forearm are going to need a day or 2 to recover.  A lake run brown was the icing on the cake.  IMG_5234.JPG.3a25b38ffb9f3a72020fa8d30cdde1f6.JPGIMG_0525.JPEG.7631834dc0d5d1f164b98d0e9d26363c.JPEGIMG_5239.PNG.3335e5ab705f47444bb40d9fedecfdf8.PNG

Caught a dinner for my wife on my crappies pole. Too bad I only brought with me just that set up. A nice fun fight with UL rod, but gotta find better hook for these Tiny Fluke.

Multispecies day Friday. Also had a walleye, some wiper, and some drum that weren't photographed.

When I launched the boat this morning, air temp was 32 and water temp was 41.

I was not expecting a lot of action.

surprisingly I manged to catch a couple dozen 1 to 2 pound bass on a Jerkbait,  a dropshot, and ned rig.

Bass were not the only thing biting today. these three chunks gave my ned rig rod a workout.

Somebody out there is putting them to use. I wish I knew who it was, I could really hook them up.

I saved a couple this summer for my neighbor. He said they taste like redfish. I had to clean the live well afterwards. They leave a pretty strong stink.
