Any own a Diablo spec r? I was wondering how it would be for chunking 3.5" to 5" swimbaits? Tossing around the idea of buying a conquest 100hg and I need me a new quality rod for it 

Anyone have one of these rods?

I would go with the perfect pitch, should be more comfortable set up throwing the swimbaits 

Elaborate on 3.5-5" swimbaits. Do you mean soft paddle tails like Keitechs? Are you rigging them with a keel weighted ewg or a jig head? How heavy of jig head? 

A Keitech 4.8 fat weighs about 3/8oz without a hook. I'd throw anything about 1/2oz total without a worry on the Dsr. Above that I'd be looking at the tour versatile. It's got a tad more power to it.

The Diablo Spec-R is 3/8 - 1 oz.  Are you saying it won't handle that rating?  Like to know as I just got one myself...as a gift from a fantastic fellow member.

Not that it won't handle it but is an F5 which is Megabass speak for medium - mh.  I'd prefer the F6 for baits over 1/2oz. Especially if it was bottom contact stuff. 

Yes I'm talking about like keitech 4.3,4.8, and big hammer swimbaits 

I feel like my emtf has plenty of power for this technique, I thought the dsr would be the rod for me.

Thanks.  Kind of like I like a MH rod for 1/2 oz. even tho that weight is in the range for some of my Medium rods.

I was just liking the couple extra inches of length with the dsr rod, I might just end up using my emtf on it for now. I wish they made like a 7'3" 6 power rod

EMTF is an awesome rod for swimbaits and the DSR is supposed to be a shorter EMTF. I think the DSR will be perfect for what you want. I thought the EMTF was perfect for 3/4 oz hollow bodies and if the DSR is a smaller EMTF like a lot of people say then I think you will have no problem using the DSR for swimbaits.

The DSR has been called a shorter EMTF but it's also the opinion of some that it is a slightly slower action. Take that how you want, just the opinions of some other people. 

It is a slower action according to Gary.  Not a bad thing depending on what you're using it for. I can notice a difference between the two rods. 

Does it still have the power to drive heavy wire swimjig or weedless swimbait hooks? That's about my only concern. I guess if it ends up being a little soft I could switch to braid with a leader
