Me and my fishing buddies live by the red ones, I rarely use the standard color anymore when pitching plastics on an EWG hook, even if i use a black and blue plastic, I still throw on the red hook. I find it gives the bait more flash and blood like presentation, and well.. it just works.

But does it work better or the same as the standard hook colors (silver, black etc.)?

Would love to hear from everyone and their experiences. And what YOU think works better, or the same!

I kinda like the red ones. but I don't think i've done any better with the red than black.

Black, after awhile the red comes off and you end up with a gold hook-no thanks!

if im pitching, im using a straight shank, and those dont come in red as far as i can tell.

if i wanted some color on my hook, i would just dye it myself

I've used both, doesn't seem to make a difference with worm hooks. Thing is, if you're confident in it, you'll fish it harder/better, and that does make a difference.

Red hooks are pretty

I just keep it standard. I don't think they make a difference. I used red hooks for years, switched back to nickel and my catch rate remained exactly the same. I've stayed standard ever since.

This is what I found out as well after experimenting with them for about 2 months. No difference in catch rate and the red coating would flake off after a few fish. The other thing I found was that the red hooks were weaker and broke more often than BLN ones.

Red on the front of a jerk, sq bill or lipless crank...maybe

Worm hook? Never, I'm more worried about the size and style I'm gonna use.

I use red on all of my crankbaits , have had great success. I always use red when fishing a fluke or wacky red , just have more confidence with them in those situations.
