i was looking at the bass tracker in the cabela's magazine has anyone ever fished from these... i was wondering if they are stable enough for two people as they advertise in the magazine?

i fished out of one for years, they are geat for one guy, 2 men and it gets tight.i would buy the bigger 10 ft one. one guy can stand up in it

Hey Hookem 19,

I ordered BPS' 9' Pond Prowler a couple weeks ago. It should be here next week. I have a thirty lb. Minnkota I'm going to stick on it.

I'll let you know how it fishes with just me in it (275 lbs.) and with a grandson added (another hundred lbs.). The thing is rated for 550 lbs... We'll see, after I add gear..

I fished out of one years ago. It was OK if you were fishing by yourself. If you bring a partner along you need a second one to put your tackle in. I would recomend looking for a used 10 to 12 foot jon boat. You can find them for cheeper and they are great.

i've been looking for a john boat but my knowledge is limited, i don't know how much is too much and what is too little... if anyone knows of someone with a john boat willing to sell, i'm interested...

I fished out of one for years.  Mine was had a low draft and was only 7' 6" long.  I'd recommend at least 9 ft. for stability.  It was good for two people and limited gear.  If I thought I was going to be in wind or rougher water or carry alot of gear(and possibly a third person) I'd look for a jonboat (at least 12 ft.)  The wind used to play havok on my little two man.

Go ahead and get you a 12-14 ft. used johnboat fo r 100-200 bucks and fix it up.If you are planning on carrying anything , you'll need the space.

yeah i've been looking for one for about a month now and the cheapest one i've found is 800, and that's without the motor... so i'll just keep looking

I know somebody that has ether a 12 or 14 ft. flat bottom w/ old motor and trailer. They also have a 16' kingfisher for sale. Both have set up now for a few yrs. Don't remember what they were asking or if they even still have them. But they are about 400 mi. N. of Austin. If we get back there this weekend I will try to remember to check.

I like the jon boat idea too...more space.  There is a place on the web that shows just how you can make bass fishers out of them.  Decks, wells, lockers and all.  We have a guy in the hood selling a Basstracker about 14', deck, chairs, well, 15hp Force motor and a trolling motor and trailer for $1200 last time I looked.  needs a little cleaning and tlc

yeah i've seen the john boat section but i just need to find a cheap john boat under 400, a guy i know got one two weeks ago for 100 that was trailer included so i need to find a rock bottom deal like that one... but mudpuppy if you find out about that boat let me know...

My Grandfather has a new tracker Pro Team 175 (I believe, could be teh 165) with a 50hp Mercury. Fishes extremley stable. I love the room on the front deck. Has nice rod storage, decent stock fish finder, and can move with the 50 horse. The only downside is I would suggest getting a pedestal for the front and rear deck because the stock seat is hard to fish around sometimes.

I guide out of my 14ft Jon Boat. Most of the lakes I fish are electric motor only or have access to only small boats. My boat is great. I have a carpeted floor, live well, and pedestal seats. When I am on a electric motor only lake I have two trolling motors on the back hooked up to buttons in the front so I can control everything without going to the back of the boat. I steer with the front trolling motor. It fishes great. There are so many things you can do to a jon boat. Just use your emagination and have fun. You shouldn't have to spend a ton of cash.

I have fished from these boats for yerars.  I got my 1st one in 1986.  It was great.  I fished with a friend most of the time (both were approx. 200# EACH) & we loved it for small lakes and strip mine pits.  My friend had a 12 ft.  john, but after fishing in my mini he would borrow it when I was not going.  My brother and his adult son still use it now..  Me and my son (17 Yr) fish from his now.   We do have a 14 ft. alun. and a bass boat, but for small lakes they are to much trouble.
