Sierra has Fenwick elite bass 7'-8" H for $60 and free shipping for first time user. I've got one coming for a new frog.rod, I've got a ton of the other elite rods and have been pretty happy with them. It's listed as a fly rod in the description but all the specs and pics are for the casting rod so I guess we will see what shows up

Definitely curious what shows up. The Elite Bass heavy cranking rod retails for $300. This rod is marked down from $169.95 on their site. Also, the cork in the pictures doesn’t match the Elite Bass series from the pictures I see online. I’d probably reach out and confirm before they ship. More of a hassle for everyone if they ship you the wrong SKU. They definitely paid more than $70 on their end for a current production $300 rod, so they’d be choosing to lose money to sell at this price.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

I’ve purchased 2 rods through Sierra and both were exactly as advertised.

I’m sure Sierra is great. I meant no disrespect to them as a retailer. This particular listing just doesn’t add up. My guess would be a formatting error in their data upload caused an issue.

Model on the rod is ELTCRB78H-MC, which is $169 at a few retailers, looks like a discontinued model.

I'd snag one, if I had a use for it. Not quite heavy enough to throw the stuff I can't throw yet.

Last week Sierra had the 7'9" heavy casting model and the 7'8" heavy cranking model. Must have sold out on the 7'9" casting because it's no longer listed that I can find. I looked as well at website and they didn't match up but I think they might be closing out the previous models. I think there was a new line that came out last year. Sierra specializes in closeout and discontinued items if I remember correctly.

I would pick up a couple if it is for sure that rod, but thenlack of a part number along with fly rod in the description leaves a lot to be desired...

If you touch base with them and they verify the model number and price please post back since Inwould probably pick up a couple at that price.

I think @venom made a great point with the model number of the previous generation, since that price point matches their pre-discounted price elsewhere online. Likeliest scenario. Still a great price for a $170 retail rod.

I've always always wanted a 7 8 heavy cranking fly rod. Let's see what happens.

This is exactly what Sierra specializes in. They are a corporation that buys large lots as I understand that they can then pass on to the consumer. If you really scour their website or stores which I’m able to visit a brick & mortar store you quickly realize every once in awhile they are offering a killer deal that if it applies to you then you should jump on it immediately unless they add a no return policy which would be the only thing holding me back from the deal.

Anyone know if the Fenwick elite cranking rods are composite or all carbon?

@johnnybassjr, according to the description on Tackle Warehouse they're graphite...

"Drawing from Fenwick’s 70-years of rod building experience, the Elite Cranking Casting Rods are constructed from a blend of 36 and 30-ton graphite with proprietary reinforcing resin, which makes them incredibly lightweight and sensitive rods that lack nothing in the power department."
