Sub 2 oz "swimbait" rod question

Featured Replies

Just recently got a few glide baits (s waver 168s) and threw them this weekend with some success on a MH quantum IM6 rod rated 1/4-5/8 oz. It really felt like the rod was underpowered for these baits. So my question is, for a "cheap" rod for these types of baits, would the abu villain 6'9" MH be a little better suited for these baits? Being as the MH abu's tend to fish more like a heavy so I'm told.

I would look at the Dobyn's Champion, IRod 2 Genesis or the Okuma.

What's your price range? If it was around the $200 range I would go with a mh Phenix m1 swimbait rod for $187. If you are looking cheaper maybe a irod or okuma

I can get the villain for 60$ is really why I'm asking. Don't want to be anywhere near 200$ lol

Ok, the villain is a steal for that price and my dad got a 7'6" medium heavy one for the same price. But the Rod you are talking about isn't gonna cut it for what you're wanting

Dobyns Fury 735 will work and can double as a frog, Carolina Rig, and jig rod.

How does your dad like the villain?? Even if it doesn't work out so swell for glides I may still find a use for it.
