Difference between Curado I and Chronarch ci4

Featured Replies

Hey guys so I was thinking about picking up a Chronarch, but I was not sure exactly what the difference between that reel and the Curado I is. I know it is much lighter due to the magnesium frame, but is that it or is there anything else different between the two? thanks!

Chronarch is Made in Japan. Good enough reason for me haha

The ci4 isn't magnesium. It's made of ci4 (reinforced plastic basically)

The Chronarch spool can go a bit lighter lure-wise and seems to start up fast and stay fast. It's an excellent caster for distance. Plus it has some knob bearings and some bling that the Curado I lacks. The Chronarch palms nicer to me, I think because the Curado has a larger or lower gearbox or something. I also really like the Chronarch's knobs, though I think they may be on the Curado 70 as well now.

The Chronarch is lighter, holds less line (Chronarch is a 150 size and Curado is 200), casts farther, and has an incredibly smooth drag.

I use to think the Chronarch was not worth the extra money but after using it more and more I like a lot more than the Curado. The Curado is not a bad reel by any means but I just find the Chronarch a little bit more enjoyable.

my mistake thanks for clarifying I was thinking it was magnesium. I will likely be picking one up shortly then thanks!

The Chronarch frame is carbon fiber infused composition.  It is incredibly strong, light and expensive to make.

The Chronarch spool is a little higher quality than the Curado and it has anti-rust bearings throughout.

The drag system is identical in both reels, four shoes which tip forward on a brake ring, further tuned by an outside dial.

The Curado has no handle bearings.
