VMC Sure Set Hooks - Thoughts?

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if any of you that have used lures with the VMC Sure Shot treble hooks can speak of them, pros and cons.  Do you notice a better hook up rate with them?  Have they ever failed you, or do they dull easy?

I am NOT a fan of that particular treble Hook.

The only bait I every fished it on was a Rapala Sub-walk - it came with a feathered sure set treble tail hook.  It was terrible.

Rapala has since Stopped using them but before they did & before I started changing them out to Mustad Short shank triple grips - the hook up to strike & land ratio was very very poor.

After the change, it's been very very good.

I would Not Recommend that treble hook.

I've had success with them ! I've pulled in a  Couple where the long shank was the only thing in em. Makes me feel like I wouldn't have got em if I didn't have it on there. (I'll never know) I like the vmc hooks too. Always have treated me well. I like the sure set. Although I don't think they make a big noticeable difference. And could get hung up more. Like I said.  I've brought em in when only the long shank was in her lip.

Don't like em. I switch them out for mustad short shank triple grips, vmc round bend, or owners depending on the type of lure

This is funny.

But If there are alot of weeds anything with two trebles will hang up. I don't know about you but if it's too weedy Im not reaching for my cranks... I've had success with them with poppers and the dt4.

I really like them on dt4 and dt6 rapalas
