If your using one how do you like it? I currently own three tatulas and I like them a lot so I was thinking about trying out one of the ct's.  I don't want a debate about this brand is better then that brand. The only decision I trying to make is between the OG tatula or the CT. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I have 1. Zero performance increase between the previous tatula and new ct. Just fits a little better in hand.

I agree, performance is the same however they upgraded the aesthetics by giving a handle nut and retainer. Also if I'm not mistaken it has a larger drag disc like that of the old zillion tws which is technically an upgrade. As far as palming, it does in fact feel much more compact and its definitely noticeable, a very good thing.

I have been wondering the same thing. How did they lower the price on the new model ct vs the og?

I have one and really like it. I don't think it's quite as solidly built as the original, but it's a great reel. I would definitely buy more.

I have the ct type r. Original tats and original Tatula type r. I don't see any less quality from the new ones. Great reel and solid performer. I love the new size, even though I never had a problem with the size of the first ones,

I'm the same with the OG ones as well, I dont have any problems palming them. I went a head and picked up a CT as well as a new model St Croix Mojo Jerkbait rod, with the 4th of July sale I sale almost $50.

explain?

difference are:

aluminum side frame on 100 vs not on CT

drag system listed are different

the knobs on 100 are custom vs regular on CT

also TWS is smaller on CT because the body size is small

Daiwa's website don't even mentioned the CT model

The ct also has aluminum side gear plate

drag systems are the same

the knobs are the same

smaller tws is an improvement.

There is no downgrade

they both have the exact same body composition

exact same drag system, both UTD

exact same knobs, did you even look at the 2 reels?

smaller tws is the point, its called CT for a reason.

http://daiwafishing.com.au/products/tatula-ct/

its not a downgrade, not even remotely close.

Same exact scenario here. Good reels!

The smaller tws was already in use on the zillion which is the same frame as the original Tatula.

nice post boys. then go for the cheaper one. I compare them over cabelas.. $149 vs $129 msrp

side plate looks plastic to me, I'm not sure some here saying the CT is better than the old one. probably the only advantage is the size and its not that much of a difference.

There isn't a single poster in this thread stating the old is better than the new one. Just you for some reason.

As pretty much everybody else has posted, there is no performance difference. The only "advantage" of the original Tatula is if you're okay /w the wider frame, they have been 100$ for the past couple years from various vendors. I'm sure you can find the CT just as cheap or close to it if you wanted to.

Wrong. The CT / and Original Tatula use a composite side plate(spool bearing side). Both handle sides are aluminium. Regardless of you "thinking the CT looks like plastic", It's the exact same as the original Tatula.  Both the original tatula and new CT use the same frame. Lots of reels use a composite side plate to reduce weight. A composite side plate has almost no bearing on a reels longevity or performance. Making that a deciding factor is asinine.

No, they aren't.

No, they are not "custom". They are the exact same paddle knobs that appear on alot of daiwa reels now....including the CT

The smaller TWS was used on the older TWS zillion.

Love both the original and ct, although the ct is smaller and has a deeper spool then the original, i don't feel a performance different.

Actually. The TWS is smaller on the CT versions. It's more narrower. Same thing between the Zillion TWS and SV

That's the point I was getting at. They werent identical but a smaller version was something that was done before. I can see what I posted would be construed as something different though

The only opinion I can offer is secondhand.  Like you I have the original Tats but have never used a CT.  Every review I've read claims they perform the same...just on a bit smaller frame.  May have to eventually try a CT just to prove the reviewers right.  :D
