Repower a LUND Pro V 16,6

Featured Replies

1999 model with a Honda 50 hp,4 stroke, tiller. She was getting tired and the killing blow came with the destruction  of the lower unit on an unknown object. This motor has my highest respect for durability and longevity.

Shopping around I see that Honda and Yammie both make high thrust lower units  for 60 hp that costs as much as $1600 more than standard LU`s.

Question=does anyone have experience with these high thrust LU`s. Are they worth the extra $$ They are made for non planning vessels like toons and barges. This Lund is not light  by alum boat standards but of course it does plane.Max is 60 hp

Either  manf is fine by me.

Thanks C22

It looks to me like those motors are meant to be used on pontoon boats or sail boats, not for conventional hulls.

They look like they are all torque and no speed...that'd drive me nuts.
