12lb or 15lb?? help me decide!

Recommended Posts

Just got a 6'4 med fast rod for topwater and spook jr's. Which line should i go with 10,12, or 15lb mono? Which would cast better on my baitcaster? Thanks in advance for the help.

Conventional wisdom says lighter line casts farther and easier.  Any of the sizes you listed will work fine.  I use 12# diameter equivalent Tuf-Line Supercast.

What is your rod rated for, both line & lure weights? I am thinking you are really stretching your lure weight on that rod. 1/8 oz. might be a little lite on that rod & the DT 10 to 14 a little heavy.

#12 would be my choice for a medium rod
