Okuma TCS Rods

Recommended Posts

Anyone use these?  Curious about a the 6'9" APC MH rod. Scott says in his video it's a crank bait rod, but the cranking rod description is on the 6'6" and 7' M+ rods. The MH says "APC" (not sure what that stands for) and also says for lures as small as 1/8 oz when the M+ Is only 3/8 oz on the light end. Curious how that can be the case and which rods others have used and what application?

If Scott, who designed the TCS rods, says the 6' 9 MH is a cranking rod, then I would believe he's correct. The rod's action is Moderate Fast, so it should suit you for your cranking needs.

I don't have your particular model, but I do own an Okuma TCS 7' 11" XH "Mat Daddy". I think it's good overall. Plenty of backbone and it's durable. Not particularly sensitive but good enough. What I like about it most is that it balances well and is not tip heavy like a lot of rods of that length.

I have the "Mat Daddy", it's a great rod. I'd like to try some of the other rods from the lineup but really have no need.

APC = All Purpose Casting

While I don't own any of these rods, they do receive good reviews from everything I have heard. Plus Okuma offers a limetime warranty.

I have the rod you speak of and I use it for spinnerbaits mostly and it does awesome for casting into tight spaces along the bank. Use it for chatterbaits too.

I bought the 6'9 MH apc and the M+ shakeyhead rod.  Guy I know vouched that shakeyhead rod was among the best. I did throw 1/2 oz weight a mile in the yard with the 6'9" so I will test it out this wknd  Martin says it's good for spinners to  I have just always used a less limber tip with those.
