For the longest time I've used a box of small nails from the hardware store for my Neko rigs and they have worked very well.  What weight do you guys typically find to work for overall use? I want to try to get some actual nail sinkers made for this technique and don't know where to start...

I primarily either use a 6" trick worm or a Yamamoto Kut tail worm when I'm Neko riggin.

I started messing with the neko rig late this summer, and did pretty well with it. I like senkos, and Zoom Trick Worms, and I weight them with Eco Pro Nailem weights in 1/16oz. I'm primarily fishing in 2-6' with it. You may find a different size weight works better for you.

 

I use 1/32 for up to 5 ft deep and 1/16 anything deeper

1/16 has been my top producer. Although I did have some friends rig some 10" SK Bull Worms with 6D nails on a deep water hump on Lake Fork. They had their best day of the year.

 

Ok 1/16 gives me a good place to start, thx guys.  I need to get a little scale out and weight the nails I've been using to see what they were too.  If it is close I'll just stick with those.  Being able to use hardware nails and get a 100 for a couple bucks is nice.

I try to use my Yamamoto senkos specifically weightless, for wacky I use BPS sticks, and for Neko I seem to have better luck with trick worms and Kut tails.  The Kut tail Yamamotos have a much better action / fail under the water as a Neko rig from what I've seen.

Did you ever get a weight on the nails you were using? Curious how they compared.

Seeing drywall screws suggested elsewhere... 

I like small sheet metal screws which weigh from 1/16th oz. to 1/8th oz. in approx. 1/2 inch length for trick worms or senkos .

On a deep water hump on Fork hmmm, tell me more lol. Fishin our club tourney there tomorrow. If u ever wanna hook up and go let me know. On any lake in Tx, don't work so can fish whenever and I always put $40 $50 bucks in the tank. Can't get a new boat till we move this yr so I can store it in a garage. And I'm great at backing them down a ramp.

I use 1/8

3/32 oz about 90% of the time with 6" worm and 1/4" cut off the nose end, wacky hooked.

I played with this rig in my lure testing tank ....bathtub...over the weekend and a 5" Reins Bubbling shaker looks killer! They also make a 7".
