So I thought 2015 was bad

Featured Replies

My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer after an operation in August a year ago. From there it was infusion after infusion and feeling bad to feeling really bad, then repeat over and over.It was hell on earth for both of us,her suffering and me watching helplessly. She passed recently and it has me wondering what to do next. We did achieve our 50th anniversary ,it was bitter sweet.

Knowing what I  know now I would not suggest that anyone with stage 4 cancer take those treatments, but live the best life they could with the proper medicine and eventually enter Hospice as my wife did.Just guessing ,but I feel that she could have had several months of a decent life instead of the  suffering she went through for so long.

Of course its all about personal decisions when one is faced with cancer. There are cancer survivors  of course, but keep in mind this is about stage 4 cancer.

My heart goes out to you. I can't even imagine loosing my wife, and we haven't had 50 years.

Sorry to hear about your loss C22. When my dad passed away someone told me something that I still think about 3 decades later. I'll share it with you. Remember the good times and understand that they weren't just good times for you but also for your wife as well. Remember that those times were good for her because you were there.

I'm sorry for your pain and heartache, my mother battled cancer and is in  remission, I myself struggle with liver  disease. Just remember this is all temporary soon these things will be no more.

Wow, that's rough.  I always feel like saying sorry isn't sufficient but that's all I've got.  :  (

I am sorry for your loss. My wife and I have 40+ years. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I would be lost without her. I will keep you in my prayers.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

I am concerned about my wife and her pain problem that I know what you went through, but not on the level you did.

Glad you had her for 50-years.

I'm really sorry for your loss. My mom died a few years ago just a year shy of her and my dad's 50th. You could tell it never crossed my dad's mind that he might live longer than Mom. He's done OK. He's become much more sociable because he simply got lonely. He has a circle of friends he eats breakfast with every day and some family who check up on each other all the time. He's tried dating a few people, but always finds that they simply aren't my mom. Hang in there. You never know what the future has in store for you.

And keep fishing, by all means. It's what keeps us sane.

Thank you for all the kind replies. It was by far the worst trying year of my life.I have lots of support from friends and family to help me through. I have to start fishing again.
