Advice on selecting new spinning rod

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! Sorry to plague you with yet another vs question, but I couldn't quite find the information I wanted. I plan on getting a new spinning rod, it'll be somewhat of an all-purpose finesse rod. Anywhere from light weighted texas and wacky rigs to weightless and dropshot rigs.

I've narrowed my choices down to the Fenwick HMG, Dobyns Fury, and St. Croix Mojo.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

I like St Croix LTB & Fenwick Aetos

The Dobyns Fury FR 702C and Fr 703C both fit your category. Dobyns make a great feeling rod. I would choose between those two rods. Probably for all around use I would go with the 703c.

The gen 2 Mojo 6'8" MXF would be a solid all around pick.

I have the previous version of this rod and it's one of the best all around spinning rods I've ever owned. I've heard nothing but good things about the new version so I'm assuming it's at least as good and probably even better than the rod I own.

Great suggestion. Just bought this exact rod last weekend. Paired it with a new Shimano NASCI reel and fished it on Sunday. It's fantastic. I also have a 6'6" Premier, and I really like it, but I think I like these new mojo rods much better. At $119, it's a good buy.

The Mojo would be a solid choice,I have the 6'8" MXF and the 6'10 MLXF.Great sticks for the $
