Info on Powell Inferno

Featured Replies

I was wondering if I should purchase a Powell inferno casting rod 7' MH for jigs and Texas rigs. Since I have never owned a Powell rod I wanted to know about it before making the purchase. Any information would help sensitivity, power, durability, etc. thanks

I own one Powell rod. It is an original Powell Max 6'8" called the 683CEF. Go read the review of that rod here

http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpowell683cxfast.html.  that rod is my most versatile rod I own and I usually have a dozen rods on the boat . It is a perfect jig, tx rig and do it all rod.  Heck they even threw a 2 1/2 ounce swimbait on it. Now I would not do that, but it handled it. Having said all that they now offer that rod in the Inferno lineup. I would expect it to play virtually the same.  My Powell is over 4 years old and I love it.  You asked for info on the 7ft mh. Its up to your preference, I just know I love the 683,but the more traditional choice would be going with the 7 foot mh, the specs are the same line and lure wise. I am sure you will be happy with either.

I used to have a Powell desiel medium  spinning 7. It was a good rod had the back bone of a mh strong and well built. It was tip heavy, that was not that big of a deal , i like Powell just from my experience with the deisel.

I have 6 Powell Inferno rods & I love them. Actually use them more than my Dobyn's Furys or 13's. Great rod for the money, also dig the microguides on casting rods!!
