rewiring gauges

Featured Replies

I have an 84' ranger and I'm looking to replace all the gauges and rewire all under the console  (tach, trim etc.) any good references out there that could help a novice? Ranger fax me some but poor quality and told me nothing. I'm sure this is out of my league so how would a person expect to pay a shop to rewire everything from console to stern? Should I start trying to sell a kidney?

There really wouldn't be a real wiring diagram for that boat. Back in those days the boats were normally rigged at the dealership by the boat riggers and the wiring of the boat depended on how the rigger did things.

Teleflex used to have a nice webpage on how to wire up all their particular gauges but I see they've changed their page and that info is no longer there.  If you're electrical wiring challenged you're going to need to find someone with the experience or knowledge to help you. I've rewired quite a few boats and you basically need to start with a wiring diagram and go off of that.  You'll pay an arm and a leg for a pro to do it.
