G Loomis

Recommended Posts

Looks like G Loomis is re-releasing the IMX line as the "IMX Pro" line of rods. I noticed that IMXs and their specialty lineup are all on sale on TW, I wonder if the IMX Pro is replacing both of those lines of rods to simplify their offerings. That would make sense...

So now we've got the E6X at $200, IMX Pro at $300, GLX at $400, and NRX at $500. These were released in 2015, 2017, 2016, and 2010 respectively.

It sounds to me like the NRX is the next line of rods to get an overhaul.

I hope they change their grips-they have had some of the goofiest grips on the market for the last few years.  Just an opinion.  Great blanks, poor design.

Wow 220 for the IMX at TW.  Anybody in the market for a rod should strongly consider these.  I have several of these and they are great rods.  7 foot MBR is a great all around rod.

Wait until the Asquith comes out in the $600 to $700 range.  That will round out thier top end.

a 25% sale will put it under NRX retail ;)

853 JWR should be the only one needed.

did NRX come out in the fly fishing lineup before bass?

No.  The NRX line was offered in both Bass and Fly the same year.

That's the same price I paid for my first 3 IMX rods back in 1996ish...  a salty deal for sure!

The IMX pros look to have slightly different tapers and lengths.  Could be a trimming adjustment to get new specs and keep the product line fresh.  Either way, glad to see them continue, as they have been one of the best values for many years.

I've got to think of some sort of idea to get to you guys who will spend $6-700 for a rod.   There has to be a way to make some big bucks off you.   Probably some kind of property scheme.  Or global warming.

There hasn't been an announcement.  I'm just surmising that will be G Loomis's next move. No reason to have this new high end technology and only offer it in a fly rod.  Way more bass fisherman than fly fisherman.

I'm wondering what will happen with the GL3s?? I have a few and they  are great rods but with all the hype and sales of the IMX, NRX, GLX and E6X they have kind of got lost in the shuffle and have been relatively unchanged since the middle ages lol

That's a good question, I forgot about those lol. I assume those will get phased out too

That would make sense. Just not a very big market for $700 rods

I would tend to agree, but I wouldn't have thought there would have been a strong market for the $500+ NRX, but yet, they sold a lot.  Some guys just want the best, no matter the cost.

That's the spirit, look for ways to scam your fellow anglers...  :(

I owned an IMX and it was the worst Loomis rod I ever owned. my GL2 and GL3 were twice the fish catchers that the IMX was.
