Trailer for skipping jigs

Featured Replies

In another topic team nine states he rarely used beaver for trailer.do to them ripping off frequently this got me thinking...what kind of trailer is everyone using when skipping jigs

Strike King Rage Craw or Netbait Paca Craw. Never had an issue skipping jigs with either. In fact, they're the only trailers I use on my jigs 95% of the time.

Rage craw or chigger craw.

I am still learning to skip with a casting reel, but I use old, already fished on a t-rig, Rage Menace Grubs as my trailers.  They are a good trailer in general and while they do rip a lot, I don't mind as they have already gotten me some fish.  I just cut maybe an 1/2 inch off the nose and they hold on the jig fine under normal use.

I like to skip any kind of smaller compact creature baits. When your skipping a jig with a trailer, f you have a big floppy trailer, it wont skip as well because those big appendages hit the water and slow down the jig a lot faster rather than a smaller compact trailer.

I still have some difficulty skipping a jig and will normally opt for a tube, but when I do skip one, I like a chunk trailer with flat 'claws' I've tried RageCraws, but I have a tendency to hit the water hard and those claws seem to catch the water and kill the skip.

i like the rage menace because it just doesn't have too much going on to catch the drag while skipping
