Yep looks like melanosis . It's not harmful to us or the fish.

Looks fun to me! Have a gander at the ball python

breeding world. This bass reminds me of a bumblebee

ball python.

Actually I think its one of those new NASCAR racing bass. If you look at the other side its sponsored by STP, Pepsi, AT&T and the state of Virginia tourism bureau. 

I thought it was a rare largemouth peacock bass fish.

The production of melanin is stimulated by exposure to sunlight,

it's the compound that gives us a tan, and the reason why humans

living in the hottest climes generally have darker skin pigmentation.

That's easy. It's a bandit bass. The color is fried squash.

House and a folding table in the background? Looks like a bass that's been in a cooler and lost a lot of it's color prior to going to the chopping block to me.

Funny you said this. When I saw the picture of the fish it reminded me of a lemon blast. I used to have quite the collection of ball pythons and other constrictors.

Look at the eyes! Aint dead that long & doesn't account for coloration.

My youngest has a gorgeous male bumblebee, waiting for

proper weight to mate with two het-pied ghost females my

brother is taking care of for us!

 

Some unreal genetic combos out there. I still think it'd be

really wild to catch bass in those combos. Rare colors, etc.

One can fantasize, eh?  

The gold color could be enhanced by camera setting's . 

Caught a couple of those in Puerto Rico a while back. I also caught one in MD that had so much of those black patches, it was almost all black.

Think of the names we could call this fishes sub-species. My vote would be one of the following:

 

Bandit Bass

Raccoon Bass

Masked Bass

Panda Bass

If you say "Bandit Bass" or "Panda Bass" too quickly it sounds like your Mexican chili had a medical affect on your sitting area.  I'm going to have to suggest "Zorro Bass".
