I have a bunch of older Rapala baits that came w these hooks. I took them all off, I can't imagine a hook like that on a squarebill? Anyone fish these things, without hanging on everything that is lol.

That's what I figured, didn't think I was missing anything but trouble by taking them off. Thanks guys.

They went through a phase of putting them on all their DT crankbaits. I've fished them and they've caught me fish, but I generally replace them whenever I open the box.

As a rapala lover and collector I have experience with these hooks. Honestly don't care for them on most cranks. But I really like them on my topwaters. Several times I brought a bass in that was stuck only on that one elongated shank. I will also use them on the DT fat 1 and 3. Other than that.. I'd rather have short shanks.

Since you have much experience w Rapala I have a question. I have some unfished DT flat sided crankbaits DT 3's and 7's. Would u consider these coldwater crankbaits? Thanks.

@TxHawgs I wouldn't consider myself an expert.. just really love the value you get from their baits. That being said , I've never tried a DT in the winter... I'm usually using jigs, flutter spoons, blade baits and jerkbaits. I can confirm the x-raps perform in cold water. But that's pretty much common knowledge. If you can get your baits to suspend properly then I'd assume they could catch fish in cold water... Although I'm almost always targeting fish in deeper water than 7 foot in the winter.
