ya couldnt find anything close to 60lb fluro though. Tried those knots but the 60#seemed too thick to slip the knot complete. Usually on a uni to uni i use 8 wraps around the fluro and then 5 wraps around the braid. What if i tried going 6 and 3 or 4 and 2 ?

I would go FG before going below 5/5 and you can see several ways to finish it without using the 1/2 hitches........youtube is your friend

You tried the FG knot?  I've used it on fluoro to 80# and it it works OK...biggest problem is the line diameter difference.

Trim the tag end on the fluoro close, and build up a decent ramp...it'll work.

I would have a problem with the doubled over 60# with the Alberto...and I'm just not a fan of the Uni-to-Uni because I find it difficult to tie...too much stuff to manage...

Don't ever wrap a uni less than 5 times, it won't hold.

wasnt tying the fg properly before but i figured it out, btw do u use 80# for pike or muskies? How u think 60# would hold up? First time using fluro for a tooth leader

I tried heavy fluoro like 80# and 100# for muskies...didn't really care for it...jut too stiff...went back to 50# Tyger Leader and similar Surflon.

...At this point I'm using the heavy fluoro for weed guards on musky flies...

I'll use 50# fluoro on a fly rod for pike and muskies and not feel undergunned...but check it really well after every fish...

uni to uni works great with lighter fluorocarbon. It may work for large fluoro line as well, but given how difficult larger fluoro is to tie with knots, it may be beneficial to learn the FG knot.

With line this heavy FG is far superior to any other knot.  It was first developed for saltwater and heavy lines, is easier to tie with heavier lines, is the smallest and arguably the strongest knot.  The double uni, if you ever can get it to tighten up, will be huge, with five layers of FC.

With this heavy FC the FC will stand up nicely allowing easy weaving with the braid without using the method that requires the braid to be tensioned.

I have no doubt the Rizutto finish, done right,  will make a great knot, but the chances of my getting it done right are pretty slim.  There is a video that shows how to do the weaves without tensioning the braid, and I'll find it and post here.

One thing one should do after tying his first FG is to tear it apart.  If done right the FC will be mechanically deformed which shows how the braid is captured in grooves in the FC.  If the FC is not deformed, the knot is not being tightened adequately.

I like the modified albright. It's an easy knot to tie and not that bulky if you take time.
