Got my kayak today.

Featured Replies

I picked up my new kayak today after weeks of homework and shopping around. I went with a 14' Old Town Dirigo that seems to be the perfect combination of size, stability and maneuverability for the waters I'll be fishing. I looked at a few SOT yaks but felt a little too exposed to comfortable on them. With a couple of rod holders and an anchor kit that I'll be adding this weekend the only thing missing is open water.

Very nice. I fish out of a very similar boat, an Old Town Loon 138. I use a Tite-lok rod holder. Those have a small surface mounted base that stays on the boat, and the rod holder can be installed and removed whenever you want.

I've had the kayak for 10 years and I still don't know of any other boat I'd rather have.
