Whenever we go to Walmart she will say. "Okay, I'll go get what we need and meet you over by the fishing stuff when I'm ready to go."

At Field and Stream "You've been looking at the same three lures for 20 minutes."

I get the same thing at Wally World and Academy...lol. 😂😅

My new favorite:

I was fishing a swim jig and it wasn't working so I put it up. She says, "I guess you could say the jig is up *laugh, snort, laugh, snort*."

Externally I rolled my eyes and shook my head. Internally I'm laughing and wouldn't have it any other way.

Rob: Okay, here is 15 bags of soft plastics, which one do you want to---

Her: Pink one.

Rob: I'm not sure i wou---

Her: PINK!

First day using a bait caster/pitching. Proceeds to catch a 4lb lake erie largemouth on a pink senko on her 4th pitch ever. Best part... she man-handled it, and boat flipped it before I could get to the net.

Second best part... A perch charter with 12+ people is passing by 20 feet away cheering her on and taking pictures while she posed for them like a big shot!

Bubble gum is my favorite color in the Trick Worm. It way out produces the natural colors in the waters around here. Go to Walmart, Dicks or Academy in the spring and they'll invariably be out of them. When you see them buy 3 packs. I have the bubble gum, limetreuse, pumpkin and watermelon. The naturals have their times too.

Absolutely. It's a clear, high-pressured lake erie harbor, so at the time I didn't have the confidence, but she showed me!

A couple weeks later was out with my dad, and kicked his butt on her pink worm. I showed her the picture of the 4lber I caught on it, and she yelled at me not to use her worms!

EDIT: Found it!

That's awesome!!

Are you a current UA fisherman?

I used to live in that area and fished the dobass series on Ladue that is now run by the Kent State team.

I also fished in the EEI series as well.

Did you guys have the battle for the paddle yet?

here's a new one that just happened today. As some of you know from my previous posts, we have a new boat on order and will pick it up in the spring. As my wife is extremely sensitive to the sun, we got a boat with a sun top to keep her in the shade.

However, I told her the sun top will only work when the sun is high in the sky, and she'll need to keep her big floppy hat with her. So today my wife was out shopping, and when she came home this was our conversation.

Her: Hi honey, do you like the material I bought?

Me:  Ya, it looks nice, what's it for?

Her: Curtains !

Me: I look around the house and ask, do we really need new curtains?

Her: Not for here silly, I'm going to make curtains for the boat.

Me: HUH?

Her : You said the sun top won't work all the time, so I'll make curtains to hang off of it, to keep the sun off of me.          That's a great idea, don't you think.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        At this point " happy wife, happy life" entered my mind and I said yep, it sure is.                                                            So with all the things I've been thinking about getting for this boat, curtains never once crossed my mind.                            Silly me                                                                                                                                                                            Jim

We were surf fishing once and my wife out of the blue said " Im going to catch a black drum " I told her I had not caught one there in years. I mean 20+. In a little while I look over and guess what she caught? And she caught another one the same day.

She just doesnt make cute or funny remarks. When I say Im going fishing , she says ok. If I show her a nice fish, she says wow. Thats about it.

That water is not deep enough for fish!

How can fish see in those thick weeds?

"Before you go fishing, could you do something for me".  Turns into a 1/2 day job.

"Just buy it."

-My wife commenting on my indecisiveness on whether or not to buy a small bass boat.

This sounds like my mother. “Oh your going fishing? Can you stop on your way out and paint the living room and refinish the kitchen cabinets?” “Sure mom, as long as you don’t mind me doing it at 3am!”

My wife doesn't fish, but one morning before sun up back when I was learning how to fish jigs, she said "don't come home until you catch one on a jig".  Around 7:30 PM she called me wondering where I was.

That reminded me of the guy who came in his front door with a wad of rod and reels , tackle boxes etc and asked his wife " How was your summer,? How are the kids ? " lol

Do girlfriends count?

Her:  "I don't know why you think fishing requires a lot of skill or anything.  I mean, it's not like being a professional baseball player or something."

Years later, after getting consistently out-fished, she doesn't say this anymore.  NOTE:  I am NOT saying I'm that good.  Just better than her.
