Spinnerbait blade color

Recommended Posts

Fishing some clear northern water and I know the spinnerbait bite is good. If I use tandem willowleaf blades through the weeds can I use a good and silver blade or should I go with 2 silver blades? Does it matter?

Personally I don't think it matters.

Sometimes it does. Where I fish it does. If you're not throwing an all white spinnerbait with a solid white blades, you're not getting bit. I've put it to the test and thrown silver/gold blades right next to my buddies solid white, and he put 25lbs in the boat while I couldn't catch a keeper. He has done this multiple times. But only to me once

I like gold blades on cloudy days or in dirty water. If it's bright with clear water I usually start with double silver. But I also like a gold and silver combo sometimes as well. Just change it up and see what gets bit. I've had days when the blade color absolutely mattered, other days not so much.

If it's sunny you can't go wrong with silver blades in clear water. If it's a little stained I would go to the gold and silver. Overcast and cloudy I'd definitely go with something painted like white.
