Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource.

The Rapala Shad Rap has worked for me is both warm & especially cool/cold water situations.

As for bass size caught, usually depends on where I'm throwing it.

The jointed version is my favorite crankbait...JSR5 to be exact. They catch Bass of all sizes!

It works around here really well, especially in real early Spring when the water is still cold. The SR-5 and SR-7 are my favorite, as they have a very tight wobble.

Yes they work. But I find any bait will catch fish sooner or later. I give every bait a chance to jump in the pool. On a slow day I throw them all with different presentations. I practice till a bass interrupts me. I hate when that happens.

Been one of my go to multispecies baits for decades, has caught me more largemouth than I could have ever imagined. It may be silent but that action, especially in colder water conditions, really can't be beat.

I use the sr7 only, in a few colors,  I have caught fish year round on it.  I’ve caught them in the dead heat of August and in the cold months of December, this bait shines in cooler weather so it’s a great bait to throw rite now .even though it’s unseasonably warm for this time of year rite now in my parts.

Yes, the #5 is one of my go to cold water baits. I fish it on a spinning rod and 8lb test.

A similar bait I've fallen in love with for cold water is the Duo Realis Shad 62DR. Cast much better than a Shad Rap and has great, lifelike color options, and it catches all sizes of fish.

Quite a few bags over 30lbs are caught on a shadrap every year out west.

Does deserve the quote.

to answer to your question, I don't know if Shad Raps "work to catch big bass" , I've caught thousands of bass with Shad Raps, including my 14.5 lber PB.

Yes. Shad Rap #7 on 6-8lb test is one of the best lures ever made in my opinion. Light line is the key since it is super light and the action is dependent on lighter line but you can another site on 6lb test.

The Shallow shad rap is another killer lure that noboby seems to talk about. I find if I throw the shallow shad rap on lighter line I catch more fish than on any other shallow crank.

If its windy and you can't throw the balsa shad rap, they make a heavier suspending version in the glass shad rap which is almost as good but Still not the same imo.

Sold on the Duo Shad...I love the way that lure looks. Adding to my cart for next order. Thanks

The Shad Rap is a go to bait. I don't throw the jointed version as much. I mostly throw the jointed as a change up or for the slightly different look. Very productive bait for me. I'm also using something very similar that I get great results with. But I believe its pattern color related. Sz.7
