Does anyone think this will produce?

Recommended Posts

I have some 1/4 oz bucktail hair jigs and decided to experiment with them. Nothing new to anyone ,but new to me since I havent ever used them. The jigs are brown and orange and have a brown/rose colored head. I found some baits I would like to use for a dropshot rig and decided to put one of the baits on the jig as a trailer. The trailer is made by Angler Technologies/ Anglers Choice Custom Baits out of Henderson Nevada. The bait is called a Baby Split Tail Beaver 2.5 inch color 707 Golden shiner. Looks good to me. What do you all think?

I set up a jig with a big hammer 4" swimbait, and let me tell you, it moves just like the real deal.

I bet it'll work. Try it!

Ok I made a little error. The jig itself is actually an 1/8 ounce. Wonder if that would make a difference? I also have the same jigs in a black and blue color. Of the 2 colors which one is more likey to produce with that trailer?

Do bucktail and marabou jigs work as well for largemouth as they do for smallies?  I always thought that they fished the jigs without weedgaurds because smallies tend to gang up on rocks and a weedgaurd isnt necessary and people stuck to weedgaurd jigs for bass because they fish off-shore structure.  Do smallies prefer hair over rubber and vice-versa for largemouth?

Smallmouth, maybe.

Largemouth, no. You need a bigger trailer with any jig.

Hair jigs can work fo almost any predator fish, from crappie and bream to big stripers. Hair jigs can be equally effective on largemouth as smallmouth, but they really shine in coldwater or pressured situations where fish are stressed.
