Rope for launching boat

What kind of rope do you all use when launching your boat solo? I see there are tons of different kinds, so I wanna make sure I get the right kind.

Also, what kind of rope for tying to the dock? Nylon?

I assume "anchor rope" is intended just for that?

I just use 3 strand Nylon rope.  I use the same kind of rope for both my anchor and my dock line.

I have one rope, that is a ski rope, in the back of the truck.  If I am alone I hook it to the boat and the trailer, back in the boat, get out and tie it up to the dock while I park my truck.  Inside the boat I have two light nylon ropes, 5 foot each, that I have rolled up next to my seat for when I dock the boat somewhere.  I have a loop tied at the end of those that fit the anchors on my boat perfectly so it only takes me a second or so to tie up.

I use the rope that floats so I can see it when I pull the trailer out so I dont worry about it sinking and getting caught on one of the rails on the trailer.

You want to use braided dock lines, not "rope."

I use a braided dock line with a built in loop for tying up to docks.  It's made to run the loop through the cleat on the boat and loop it around the ears of the cleat to hold it to the boat and make it easy to take off.

I just use the winch strap on my boat to launch my boat when i'm solo.  Just reel some length off of it before I back the boat in, once it floats I pull it back using the winch strap, unhook and push the boat back off the trailer.

Thanks fellas. What diameter is recommended? FYI, this is for a 17.5' mod V, so nothing crazy heavy.

I use 1/2 "shock cord" (think bungee cord) with stainless clips on each end.  Much, much better than a rope, easier to manage.

I clip one end to the winch strap, the other end to the bow eye hook.

I started out with it at about 20 ft. long, which was too long, and I've cut it back twice...couldn't even tell you how long it is without measuring it, but it's "just right".
