Mystery Tackle Box or Lucky Tackle Box

Recommended Posts

if you do a search there are a few threads on this subject.

I personally don't understand the draw to these type of subscriptions.

I would rather shop for the  baits I want, rather than pay a company to send me random stuff.

There's a sticky thread about this above. However, since you asked... I have never tried lucky tackle box. I am however a pretty avid fan of mystery tackle box and have been for around a year now, maybe a little less. Some months have been absolutely amazing some months have been a little blah but in every box there's something worth getting. I personally enjoy it because often I'll get baits that I wouldn't even think to try on my own. Flick shakes, flat sided cranks, lead headed pre-rigged swimmers, walking topwaters, all kinds of stuff. Also I'll get stuff that I have tried, but that I can use anyway. The Carolina rig kit comes to mind, the silly little jig brush bands (which work), the shad scent I got this month, vile craws, saw craws, you name it.

When I get new baits in I want to try to make them work for me... its had the unforeseen consequence of growing my confidence in styles of fishing that I hadn't been big on previously. I actually leave a crank or square bill tied on almost all the time, I never even owned squarebills before last year.

As for quality, the baits are fine. The hooks need a swapping, but that's true for most lures. They catch fish and are generally super sharp, but bend easy. Not to say I haven't cranked in 6lb bass on them, because I have. Maybe if It was a 12lb bass I'd feel differently about changing hooks, but the baits themselves are decent.

There is no consensus on the answer to this question, and both services are sponsors of this site.

1. Go to youtube.

2. Search "LTB Unboxing" and watch some videos from 5 or 6 previous months. Make a list of the baits you see.

3. Search "MTB Unboxing" and watch some videos from 5 or 6 previous months. Make a list of the baits you see.

4. Compare the two lists, and pick the service that has the better list, in your opinion.

I had both at one point and none of the baits they sent me are in my tackle bag, and not because I broke them off or lost them. Take your money and spend it on stuff you know you like and what works for you. Just my opinion.
