Look at waypoints on computer

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to pull waypoints off my lowrance unit and look at them on a desktop? It would be alot easier on a bigger screen on a desk in the ac, rather than sitting in the boat in the garage.

What about hummingbird units as well? I have a fishing partner wanting to do the same.

not sure about lowrance.

Hummingbird has a program called Contour Elite. It is the pc version of Lakemaster.

if you have lakemaster on your unit you can move waypoints, to and from your graph.

I use contour elite all of the time. one nice feature is: I can  look at the contour map on my pc. Then mark waypoints and download them in my graph.

another great feature of contour elite is: you can look at the lake bottom in a 3D view.

the one drawback of Lakemaster and contour elite is: there are not maps of most lakes under 300 acres.

My Humminbird Solix exports the GPS data as a GPX file. I think all of the newer Humminbird do as well. It is possible that Lowrance uses this format now.  I know they did not use GPX on the Lowrence units I have owned in the past.  A GPX file is a standard file format used by the GPS industry.  There are MANY programs that will read, display, and edit the contents of these files including some that are free.  I have used GPX Reader on a Mac.  It simply displays the waypoints, paths and tracks and projects them onto Apple Maps and Satellite images.  It allows me to review my day of fishing at my computer and I think it cost $2 but again there are MANY options with GPX files.

Hmm. I have a gen2 non touch lowrance. I may try uploading them to a card and using the navionics app on my tablet.

I will pass that on about the contour elite.

If they wont export and it's a little more trouble but a Lat/Long is a Lat/Long, not that big of a deal to just punch in the numbers.  Then you can look at waypoints and positions on anything you choose.

500 would be a pain.  Usually, your chart card will have some means of exporting waypoints and tracks.  Here is a link to how Navionics does it on a Lowrance.  https://www.navionics.com/usa/support/tutorials/lowrance/sonar-log-recording/hds-10-gen2/export-upload
